Product FAQs
1. How do I find the antibody I need? How should I choose when multiple catalog numbers are available?
On the Huabio product page, the validated species and applications are listed under Species Reactivity and Validated Applications. Validated data can be viewed in the images. Most Huabio antibodies are validated for detecting endogenous protein levels in appropriate model systems. Some antibodies are validated only for detecting samples with target protein overexpression, or for recombinant proteins. For the same target protein, Huabio often provides multiple catalog numbers. You can use the data on our website to select the antibody that fits your application or species, or email/call our technical support team to help you choose the right antibody for your experimental purpose.
2. What does the content in parentheses in the antibody name mean?
The numbers and letters inside the parentheses in the antibody name are the clone numbers. Clone numbers have historically been used to distinguish different monoclonal antibodies. If two antibodies share the same clone number, they are derived from the same monoclonal antibody, but they may differ in species reactivity and application.
3. How do I determine whether an antibody is polyclonal or monoclonal? How should I choose?
The "Product Type" section of the antibody manual describes the antibody type in detail: "monoclonal" indicates a monoclonal antibody, while "polyclonal" indicates a polyclonal antibody. The Huabio product detail page also directly lists the antibody type. If you require high specificity, large quantities, or long-term consistency, you should choose a monoclonal antibody. Polyclonal antibodies, even when produced using the same antigen, vary between batches and therefore have limitations in specificity and consistency. Polyclonal antibodies recognize multiple epitopes, so even if a few epitopes are damaged or the antigen conformation changes, the experimental result is less affected. Therefore, when the experimental species has not been validated, a polyclonal antibody may be a good choice. If you have lower specificity requirements and need antibodies for precipitation, agglutination assays, or ELISA only, you can also choose a polyclonal antibody.
4. Why does the target I entered not match the target name in the search results? Is it the antibody I need?
Some proteins have multiple accepted names or abbreviations. You can check the data link in the middle of the product page, which takes you directly to the UniProt website. There you can confirm by the protein name and description whether the catalog number matches the target you need. You can also use the UniProt ID of your target to perform a precise search on our website.
5. Where can I find the antigen sequence?
The antigen sequence used to produce a Huabio antibody is proprietary to Huabio. However, for most products the antigen region is listed in the immunogen section. If you need additional information, please contact Huabio technical support.
6. How should antibodies be stored?
For Huabio antibody storage conditions, please refer to the storage instructions on the product page or the "Storage Instruction" section of the manual. Most of our unconjugated antibodies should be stored at -20°C. Because most Huabio unconjugated antibodies are supplied in glycerol, they will not freeze at this temperature. However, some antibodies do not contain glycerol and should be stored at 4°C. Please always refer to the product page or the manual for specific storage recommendations.
7. What are the shipping conditions for antibodies?
Antibodies are shipped in a polystyrene foam box with ice packs, and the internal temperature is generally maintained at around 4°C. Tests have shown that most Huabio antibodies retain their activity with no significant change after being stored at 20°C for 2 weeks.
8. Do antibodies need to be aliquoted?
Most Huabio antibodies are supplied in glycerol, so they will not freeze at the recommended storage condition of -20°C. However, some antibodies do not contain glycerol, and we recommend aliquoting them to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquoting also minimizes losses caused by accidental contamination during handling.
9. What is the after-sales service period for Huabio products?
If the product does not perform as described on our website or in the manual, please contact technical support or your distributor promptly. We provide a warranty of one year from the date of shipment.
10. Can Huabio antibodies be customized?
Huabio has a dedicated antibody customization service team that has delivered high-quality custom products to many customers. Contact us and our specialists will evaluate and design a solution for you.
11. What if the antibody concentration does not meet my experimental needs?
Huabio antibodies are formulated based on reaction performance rather than concentration, to ensure the best results in your experiments. Therefore, we can guarantee that our antibodies will work in the applications and species listed on our website or in the manual, when used with our recommended protocol. If you require a higher concentration, please contact technical support to check whether a customized concentration is available, or consider reaching out to Huabio's antibody services team for custom antibody production.
12. Can I use this antibody in untested applications/species/tissues?
Huabio's researchers arrange validation of each antibody in different species and applications. Applications and species not listed are either not applicable to the product or have not been tested. If you wish to use this antibody in other species or applications, please contact our technical support team by email or phone for more information, and we will be happy to support your research.
13. How does Huabio control the quality of antibodies between different batches?
Huabio follows strict QC standards. Every new batch of an antibody is tested in parallel with the previous batch across multiple applications to ensure equivalent activity, achieving consistency between product batches.
14. How should I choose between directly conjugated and unconjugated antibodies?
Directly conjugated antibodies are coupled with different labels (such as HRP or FITC) on the naked antibody. Directly conjugated antibodies simplify the workflow by eliminating the secondary antibody step and avoiding non-specificity introduced by the secondary antibody. However, the signal amplification effect is lower compared with using a primary antibody paired with a secondary antibody.
